Easter this year was definitely not traditional for me. In fact, tradition went out the window. Food and all! This past weekend started with a cookout at a friend’s home on Friday night. It was fun but yet at times I felt out of place as there were mostly techies there. After turning in around 10:00 (we feel old) we got home and headed to bed. Saturday was a day of a huge list of things to do. Joel and I got up early and proceeded to wash clothes, clean the bathrooms, change the sheets, clean the kitchen, make and frost a cake, mow the yard, attend cake class, go plant/tree shopping, transplant newly bought plants and tree, dusted, got a quote from Lens Crafters for my glasses, went to Claires for Easter jewelry, and dinner at Quiznos. What a day. It seemed I never stopped. Then came Sunday. I had my first Easter outfit (complete head to toe) in 2 years on. I got so many compliments which helped seeing that the outfit is definitely different from what I normally wear. I sang in choir for both services and then Joel and I headed to Olive Garden for dinner. No ham for us this year. (At least on Easter.) We then stopped by a friends home that is being built, did a walk through, and Home Depot to look at new edgers – our weed eater is on the fritz. I took a short nap, we ate leftovers for dinner, watched Schindler’s List (I had never seen it) and a short stint on the computer rounded out our day.  It was a quiet day mainly focused on each other and quality time. It was a greatly needed day.
Tonight Joel and I will go see Buildign 429 and Tate in concert in Prattville. I’m looking forward to it. I can’t say that I need to give the night up seeing that I’m headed to Birmingham tomorrow for a Farm City Luncheon Rewards Banquet but oh well. It will be something different for us to do.Â
Cake class continues to go well. Saturday we did a fondant cake. Fondant is pretty cool. It’s like working with playdo. I like it for it’s moldability (an Erinism) but for the classic taste, I much prefer the buttercream. I have decided to do my wedding cake final out of buttercream as a result. Two more classes to go and I’ll be done.
So this weekend will be a trip to Knoxville. I still have yet to find someone to watch my girls and a cake will need to be made. I’ll miss Choir this week and I’ll tape American Idol and House. We have no fear of running out of things to do around our place.Â
